  Playing By Heart(1998)
In the film Playing By Heart, Gillian plays a commitment phob by the name of Meredith. Also in the story are Mark(Jay Mohr), Meredith's gay ex-husband who is dying of AIDS and working on rebuiling his relationship with his mother, Mildred(Ellen Burstyn)and Hugh(Dennis Quaid, a bar hopper spinning wierd tales of woe, whom we later learn is married to Gracie and knows of her relationship with Roger.

Gillian's Other Works(Including The X-Files)
Gillian has also been in other movies, and a TV Show, in both major and minor roles. Now, for the past nine years, Gillian has played Dana Scully on The X-Files, the brainy sci-fi show that, not long after it's 1993 debut, amased at small but amazingly loyal cult following, which soon expanded, making The X-Files one of Fox Television's top shows and catapulting Gillian and co-star David Duchovny into instant fame. Their faces have grazed magazine covers, billboards and tons of internets sites. Gillian was famous for not just being "another blonde beauty with big boobs," but was instead known for her brainy beauty, and referred to as "the thinking man's crumpet" in Britain. The show continued for nine years, exploring the paranormal, a complicated mythology, and the title charecters sexy yet platonic relationship. The X-Files is in it's ninth and final season.
Gillian has also had small roles in numerous low budget movies. Her first was The Turning, in which Gillian played April Cavanaugh, a waitress in the Adirondacks who's ex-boyfriend returns home to his small mountain town fresh from involvement in Neo Nazi groups and wrecks havoc. Many know this movie for Gillian's infamous topless scene, the only nudity she has ever done. She also had a role in the ensemble flick Chicago Cab, based on a stage play and featuring a impressive ensemble cast including John Cusack and Julianne Moore, among others. Gillian played Brenda(aka South Side Girl), a foul mouthed girl who gets in a highly entertaining fight with her boyfriend. One other is The Mighty, starring Sharon Stone, Harry Dean Stanton, Gina Rowlands, Kerian Culkin and Elden Henson. Gillian played Loretta Lee, the alcoholic girlfriend of Meatloaf's charecter.
